A New Spirit |
Welcome to the NEW InTheSpirit Marketing Since the only constant is change, John and I have begun harvesting some ideas whose seeds were planted a long time ago and I wanted to share some of them with all of you!
For about five years I published a monthly newsletter called Sacred Journeys and it was very successful. The process required a lot of volunteers (or service angels!) who showed up once a month to collate, fold, address, sort and stamp. We had a lot of fun doing all that, but as postage rates and gasoline prices continued to rise, the trek across town to the bulk mail center became more of a chore than a joy. The monthly deadline to single-handedly produce an eight to twelve page newsletter also began to take its toll, so the decision was made to discontinue Sacred Journeys. With the increasing use of technology, John and I will be bringing you a new, improved and updated version of Sacred Journeys! Because In the Spirit Marketing is a Community website, we plan to expand our weekly offering of advertisements, classifieds, prayer list and alignment of energy requests to include articles, jokes, recipes, marketing tips, networking ideas…in other words, anything that the Community at large may want or need to know! We would like to encourage you to submit your articles for consideration. We will provide you with a place to do that on-line and a list of guidelines will be on that page. Because we are and always have been a spiritual AND business site, the topics to choose from are virtually endless! A partial list of topics would include financial advice, fashion, health care, food, gardening, art, child rearing, pet care, etc. So, dust off that keyboard and send us articles that you think the community will enjoy! Or send recipes or jokes or just about anything else. Thanks to all of you, In the Spirit Marketing is changing and growing and meeting the needs of everyone in the Community! Join us as we enter a new phase and explore our endless possibilities!

What the heck is 1145? |
advertisement
At the end of July 2009 we installed some new software here at InTheSpirit. Software let us track how effective our newsletter is at bringing people to websites. For the second half of the year of 2009 we sent over 1680 visitors to our advertiser's websites. So far for the year of 2010 – less than 60 days in – we've had over 1145 clickthrus – (that means vistitors to our client's websites) from our newsletter. And as Jenny said above, with our new format – full magazine format with LOTS of articles – expect the amont of visitor traffic to your website to increase even more. Heck, you might actually have to pay for increased bandwidth you'll get so many visitors. So to answer the question... Why is She Smiling? Because she advertised with InTheSpirit Marketing The InTheSpirit Newsletter goes out every week to the metaphysical and spiritual communities here in Arizona and around the world. advertisement |

Estate Planning Isn't Just for the Rich |
During this season of thanks and gratefulness, we can look to our families, communities and our nation with love and appreciation. The biggest expression of our appreciation is in our giving. We give our time, money, love and wisdom to those we encounter, because we are grateful for having them in our lives. Believe it or not, Estate Planning is about giving. And the rich aren't the only ones who want to give, and they aren't necessarily the only ones who NEED to give. The greatest part of estate planning is we let our loved ones know our wishes, so they don't have to guess. Estate planning keeps chaos out of the lives of our family members during their grieving period. It's hard enough on them that we have left- why should we go without leaving instructions? Many of my clients leave some of their money to charities. These gifts are vital to our community. In our practice, we typically try to figure out if you need a Trust, a Will, Powers of Attorney or Warranty Deeds for your real estate. Probate needs to be avoided, so your family members don't have to pay so much just to be able to inherit what is rightfully theirs. We want to spell out who gets what property or heirlooms, and how you want to be treated in the hospital. Moreover, when a person is injured or ill, they may need help writing checks, or with other financial matters. A Power of Attorney can ensure that someone you trust has the authority to handle such matters. Just having a will may not be enough. Trusts are much more complete. They can help cover more bases, such as when both partners have different beneficiaries, or perhaps children from a former marriage. The major difference between a Trust and a Will is trusts are private, and wills are not. Trusts cannot be put through probate, unlike wills. So during this time of thanks, give back to those you love. Get your estate plan in order...it's one of the greatest gifts you can give. Lions and Tigers and Bears! Oh My! |
Dorothy holds Toto tightly and links arms with the scarecrow. Slowly, gingerly, eyes wide, they enter the darkness of the forest. The forest looks quite forbidding, but to make matters worse, someone has just told them that they may encounter something worse than the darkness...maybe Lions! Or Tigers! Or Bears! OH, MY! They continue repeating this mantra until (what a surprise!) they actually do run into a lion! Fast forward through the action and we see the lion fuss and fume and then roar loudly at little Toto. Dorothy's adrenaline levels are so high by now that she goes o n auto-pilot and swats the lion on the nose, telling him to pick on somebody his own size. Now here's the good part. The lion whimpers, cries and tries to hide form her. Turns out this lion is a cowardly lion and is more afraid of everything than anyone else. What is it that makes us afraid? Why do we seek out things to fear? Some are afraid of death. Some are afraid they are not food enough to be loved or to by a success. Some are afraid of public speaking and others afraid that they will never be heard. Our language makes fear our adversary every time we say we want to "conquer" fear. If we look at Dorothy and the lion, she had a brief confrontation with him and faced him, but in the end, she did not conquer him. She learned to understand and accept him and they wound up helping each other. I have always appreciated the saying that fear is "False Evidence Appearing Real", because it is, for the most part, true. Every month a close friend would call and tell me how worried she was that she wasn't going to be able to pay her bills. Raised in poverty, she had gone to bed hungry many nights as a child and she had done without many things that most of us consider essential. She had left home at an early age and began working to support herself. After more than 20 years of supporting herself, she still worried that she would not be able to pay her bills. "Well," I asked, "just how many months behind are you with your car payments"? "Oh, I'm not behind in my car payments" she answered. "Then how many months are you behind in your rent?' I asked. "Well, I'm not behind in my rent either", she said. We continued in this way for a few more minutes until we determined that in 20 plus years of supporting herself, she had never actually been behind in her bills more than a few days. Where was the evidence to support the fear that her bills would go unpaid? The fact was that she had always been able to pay, and yet, the fear seemed very real to her. She changed her affirmation from, "I'm afraid I can't pay my bills." To "All my needs are met" and was able to move into a different way of thinking. In the end, we are always at choice. We can choose to look at our fears and embrace them, knowing that they serve a purpose. Sometimes fear protects us. If we find ourselves walking alone at night and our "spider" sense tells us we need to cross the street and walk where there is more light, it's a good idea to listen. We may be afraid of having an automobile accident and so, we drive more defensively. We have all experienced the "Ohno" second...that second when we know we should have made another choice but it's too late now..."Oh, NO!" Our job is to separate the kind of fear that protects us from harm from the worrisome, nagging type of fear that has no apparent basis. Discovering that you have fears is not a license to beat yourself up. People have been heard to mutter "What did I do to deserve this in my life"? My husband tells the story of the two men who meet after not seeing each other for a while. One of them tells the other that he lost his job, his wife left him, his car broke down and he lost his money in the stock market. The other man asks him, "What is it in your consciousness that caused you to bring all that on yourself?" The first man punches him in the nose and says, "I don't know. What is it in your consciousness that made you get punched in the nose?" We must treat ourselves and our fears with love and respect if we truly want to change and grow, So often fear is about believing that we are all alone to face things. One can certainly make the choice to face things alone, but it is never necessary. Fear is the opposite of faith. When faith is present, fear is banished and we are left with the certain knowledge that all is well. During this month of harvest, death and scary stuff, let's open our closets and shake out a few old fears. With enough faith, they won't fit anymore and we will be able to get rid of them!
